Sometimes it seems that life cannot be more complicated than what we feel at the moment. This overwhelming uncertainty is perfectly reflected in adolescence: we think differently every day and scramble to find mentors for guidance. It is easy to upset this sensitive period of life, but the ques- tion is what the consequences will be if this happens to a girl who devotes most of her energy to impressing others – mostly older men. Senior Crush is a coming-of-age animation film project, set in the mid-2000s. The film explores the issues of adolescence in a time before smartphones and the accelerated digital age. The rotoscope technique I chose for the full-length dramedy evokes this offline-paced era, sometimes wistfully, but interspersed with the madly swinging teenage surges typical of the protagonist and her environment.
